Invisalign® uses clear plastic aligners to subtly straighten patients' teeth and create a healthier, more beautiful smile. Dr. Joseph Murray has extensive experience in Invisalign orthodontic treatment and can develop a plan that achieves optimal alignment, often in a shorter timeframe than traditional braces. With the use of advanced orthodontics, he can treat mild to moderate misalignment, such as an overbite, underbite, crossbite, and open bite, at our Atlanta, GA, practice.
The Invisalign Difference
Invisalign uses advanced planning software to develop a treatment that gently realigns the teeth in an efficient time frame. Different sets of aligners are created for the various stages of treatment, and each set of aligners is worn for an average of two weeks before they are replaced with the next set. When worn as instructed, most patients achieve a straighter smile in 12 months or less.
The clear aligners are virtually invisible. They also fit much more comfortably than metal braces, and will not irritate the soft tissues of your mouth. Traditional orthodontic treatments often take between 18 and 24 months, but many Invisalign treatments are completed in less than a year. Meanwhile, Invisalign trays are removably, so brushing and flossing remain as simple as ever. This feature also allows you to eat any foods your choose, whereas traditional braces require many dietary restrictions.
Your Alignment Treatment
A comprehensive examination can confirm whether you can benefit from this orthodontic treatment. For minor misalignment that is not causing any oral health issues, he may suggest porcelain veneers instead.
Dr. Joseph Murray has extensive experience in Invisalign orthodontic treatment and can develop a plan that achieves optimal alignment, often in a shorter timeframe than traditional braces.
To start the process, we will take digital impressions of your teeth. These impressions are sent to the Invisalign lab, where a simulation of your treatment is developed. The total number of aligners you receive will depend on the extent of your needs. When all of the aligners have been created, the lab will send them to our office. We will provide you with the first sets of aligners and you will wear each set for a minimum of 22 hours per day for about two weeks before advancing to the next. You will return to our office every six weeks for a checkup, during which Dr. Murray will evaluate your progress and provide you with the next sets of aligners.
While Invisalign can take as little as nine to 12 months to straighten your teeth, this timeline is dependent on your commitment to wearing the aligners as instructed.
Is Invisalign Right for You?
Invisalign is not right for everyone. Patients with more severe misalignment issues typically require traditional orthodontics to achieve a straighter smile.
